Hello friends! I want to update you on our last great Tavola Tours adventure to Sicily. The weather for the entire trip was picture-perfect with temperatures in the mid-70s to low 80s every day. Our tour group were real troopers and very interested to see and learn all they could about the island.
Sicily as we all know is an island. Most people don’t know that it is a huge island and has earned the nickname of the little continent. The island is rich in art, culture, archaeology, and history, with 7 Unesco World Heritage Sites. breathtaking scenery, beautiful beaches, delicious cuisine, fantastic wines, and great stories of myths and legends. Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea at 25,711 square kilometers (9,927 square miles), and the largest of Italy’s 20 regions. Our tour started in Palermo Sicily’s capital located on the western side of the island. And ended in Catania the second-largest city on the east coast of the island. It was a 10-day tour that allowed our guests to see the vast landscape of Sicily as we ventured across this dynamic island.
Now let’s talk about the itinerary and the incredible towns we learned about and toured. In addition to the big cities of Palermo and Catania, we visited many quaint towns and baroque villages. They were Santa Flavia, Bagheria, Cefalù, Caccamo, Ragusa Ibla, Modica, Noto, Syracuse, Ortigia, Acireale, Giardini Naxos, Taormina, Mount Etna, Tindari, Messina, and Milazzo. Therefore, as you can see we all got a great taste of Sicily! Scroll below to view some great food photos and fun group moments from the tour.
