I arrived in Helsinki, Finland on Monday the 25th of April. After a nearly two week delay due to a volcano eruption in Iceland, it was finally wheels up at JFK airport. Well almost! There was a three and a half-hour delay on takeoff but after waiting two weeks it’s not so bad. I’m finally here!
We had two beautiful days here so far sunny, not too cold, and no snow! Just the way I like Finland. My stay here is for the celebration of my daughter’s 8th birthday. Her mother and I have made a tradition of making our own birthday cake and getting the children acquainted with other ways of birthday celebrations not customary to Finland. I bring, piñatas, pin the tail on the donkey, and party favors from America. It just adds to what our family really is, and my daughter’s friends get to share this meld of culture with us every year on her birthday.
The theme this year is a Barbie birthday party. It turned out to be a great time for everyone. Click here to read the full Barbie birthday party post.
